Job Description

Orion Talent, the nation’s largest military recruiting firm, is currently recruiting transitioning or former military professionals for Maintenance Manager positions with a family-operated commercial bakery producing private label, retail bakery products, as well as crunch and inclusion products for the ice cream, confection, and yogurt industries across the industrial market, food service industry, and retail and private label space.

Position Description
As Maintenance Manager, you will lead the plant maintenance team and operations in the repair and maintenance of plant equipment and systems, such as production machinery and equipment, conveyor systems, automated production lines, mixers, ovens, and other systems for production. As a working supervisor you will lead the maintenance team and perform hands-on maintenance to ensure continuous and efficient operation of all production line equipment and systems, while minimizing production and operation down time and maximizing plant productivity. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing shift capacity utilization, ensuring plant equipment follows regulatory and company quality attributes, and the maintenance shifts exceed operational and production safety standards. Responsibilities will include:
•Lead the maintenance team and work directly with technicians to troubleshoot/repair equipment as needed.
•Lead the team that respond to production line calls, so personnel know the status of their machinery and repairs.
•Operate machinery test performance and troubleshoot and repair production department equipment.
•By example, practice high on-floor presence especially for start-ups, line struggles, projects, and production tests / runs.
•Be the liaison maintaining open communication among maintenance, production, quality, and supply chain groups.
•Plan, organize, and direct the maintenance operations to ensure the plant meets the daily production schedule while ensuring product standards meet or exceed customers’ expectations.
•Set priorities for the maintenance team to ensure task completion across shifts.
•Efficiently track daily shift work and time for each job and summarize time spent on each work category each shift.
•Decrease equipment down time, throughput, delivery performance, predictability, and profitability through effective planning, metrics, and training. Communicate clear metrics and targets to measure improvement.
•Proactively identify opportunities to reduce maintenance costs and improve down time.
•Assist shift leads in the investigation, documentation, and resolution of all safety concerns / actions.
•Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and ensure adherence to safety and GMP's.

Position Details
Location: Fort Wayne, IN
Pay: $75K starting salary
Shift: Primarily day shift hours Mon.-Fri. with leadership flexibility as needed/required for plant maintenance operations.
Leadership: You will lead and supervise 5-10 maintenance technicians as a working maintenance leader.

Position Requirements
•Top-notch candidate that possesses outstanding maintenance leadership, hands-on maintenance experience on electrical and mechanical systems, and exceptional performance.
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or 10+ years of experience in maintenance management.
•Ideal candidate will have an “out-front, blue-collar, hands-on” leadership approach and professional success and results, including the ability to maintain/sustain high positive employee relations, manage multiple priorities, use excellent decision-making, planning, coordination skills, and exhibit strong organization and effective communication.
